Dr Stephen Brearey , a consultant at the Countess of Chester Hospital, was one of the first people to spot a link between Letby and the deaths of babies in 2015 and 2016. Giving evidence at the  Thirlwall Inquiry  – which is looking into how the attacks might have been prevented – Dr Brearey admitted he had a “drawer of doom” which was “getting full” under Letby’s watch.
